Our 2022 Graduates
High School:
Jon Best
Jonathan Tyler Best graduates this year from Dearborn High School. He participated in baseball (3 years), marching band as a percussionist and wrestling (4 years on Varsity). He received multiple all-conference awards for wrestling along with Rookie of the Year (freshman), two Coaches awards (for not getting pinned all year) and was a team captain as a Senior. Jon plans to attend Henry Ford College in Dearborn next year and will continue wrestling around the 175 lb weight class. His field of study will be skilled trades/construction.
Elizabeth Cantrell
Elizabeth is graduating from Lutheran High Westland. She has varsity letters for basketball, track, and music. She also received an honorary football letter for being a water technician. Elizabeth will attend Seton Hall University in New Jersey in the fall. She plans to concentrate in Environmental Studies.
Ben Dickieson
Ben is graduating from Lutheran High School Westland and will be attending The University of Michigan – Dearborn. He plans to major in Mechanical Engineering.

Alexandra Slanec
Alexandra Slanec is graduating from Dearborn High School with a 4.3 average.
She swam on the DHS Girls Swim Team, where she received her varsity letter each year, and was recognized as a Scholar Athlete by the KLAA. Alexandra loves music and has been a member of the DHS Marching, Symphonic and Jazz bands where she’s played alto saxophone and served as section leader. Senior year, she joined the DHS Women’s Ensemble and has enjoyed singing with this select choir. As a member of Thespian Troupe 586, Alexandra served as the Thespian Troupe President and Paint Crew Chief for the 2021-2022 school year. She received a Superior Rating and Medal in the Group Acting Scene category at the 2021 State Thespian Festival, and the highest rating (1) at MSVMA State Musical Theatre Solo and Ensemble Festival. Alexandra is also a member of the National Honors Society.
Alexandra was pleased to have been invited to the Superintendent’s Honors Night, where she had the opportunity to recognize a special teacher in her life. Alexandra is a member of the Collegiate Academy at Henry Ford College, and is majoring in Biology. She plans to complete her undergraduate studies at U of M, and pursue a career in Ophthalmology or Optometry.
College:
Natalie Husby
Natalie Husby is graduating from DePauw University with a Bachelor of Arts in Biochemistry. She is a Science Research Fellow, and the recipient of the John Ricketts Prize for Exemplary Participation in Research. Upon graduation, she will move to Philadelphia, PA to work as a Genetic Counseling Assistant in the Leukodystrophy Department of The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP). She will ultimately attend graduate school to become a certified Genetic Counselor. During her 4 years at DePauw, Natalie has enjoyed being a campus tour guide, a mentor to first-year students at DePauw and works as a crisis counselor for a national text hotline. She enjoys reading, traveling, theater/music, and leisure time with friends.
John Lewy
John is graduating from Wayne State with a BFA in Design. He is currently looking for a job in the automotive industry. His longer term goal is to start his own business and design products, furniture, and installations. He plans to continue making art and music in his spare time.
Heather Slanec
Heather is graduating from Grand Valley State University with a Bachelor of Arts in Music with Performance Honors, and a minor in Marketing. During her undergrad years, Heather was an active member of Phi Sigma Sigma, holding multiple leadership positions, as well as GVSU’s Frederik Meijer Honors College, University Arts Chorale, and the Greek academic honors organization Order of Omega. Heather’s hobbies include baking, reading, and other musical or otherwise artistic pursuits. Heather will not be attending graduate school at this time, but is excited to continue her vocal education and begin learning many new skills; primarily web development and coding, music production, and organ. Heather has a multitude of future goals and dreams, including performing on cruise lines and releasing her own music.
Stephen Stormzand
Stephen James Stormzand graduated from Michigan State University in May 2022 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering. Steve has accepted an Engineering Analyst role with Denso, an automotive supplier. He will be working in their Maryville facility outside of Knoxville, TN. Steve continues to enjoy snowboarding, golf and photography in his free time.
