Book of the Every Other Month Club
Book of the Every Other Month Club
The Book of the Every Other Month Club meets on the second Saturday of September, November, January, March and May to discuss a variety of books selected by participants, including fiction, history, biography, theology, essays and more. For the 2022-2023 program year, we chose titles relevant to our Matthew 25 initiatives of building Congregational Vitality, Dismantling Institutional Racism, and Eradicating Systemic Poverty. We started the year off with Demon Copperhead by Barbara Kingsolver and Arc of Justice by Kevin Boyle.
Our next meeting has been postponed due to the weather. We will take up Mad Honey by Jodi Picoult and Jennifer Finney Boylan. Fans of Picoult’s fiction know that she is a great storyteller who always gives the reader a lot to think about, and Mad Honey is no exception. “Alternatingly heart- pounding and heartbreaking…creating a provocative exploration of the strength that love and acceptance require.” ~The Washington Post.
We will round out the year with When Church Stops Working by Andrew Root (March 9) and The New Jim Crow by Michelle Alexander (May 11.) Please join us – all are welcome!
