Hello everyone! I don’t know about you but I am so excited about this Fall. I have been hard at work recruiting volunteers, selecting a new curriculum for Sunday School and Children’s Church, organizing schedules, and preparing materials for the first day of Children and Youth activities, Sunday, September 19th.

I want to thank everyone from the bottom of my heart for volunteering during this uncertain time. We have a full staff for our nursery, Sunday School, and Youth Group. We are still looking for some volunteers to help me during Children’s Church once or twice a month.

The Christian Education Committee selected 2 new programs for this fall and they were approved by Session in August. We will be using Follow Me for Sunday School, which is PCUSA’s newest curriculum. It will teach our children and youth about 36 practices that Jesus displayed in the Bible. We will read those stories that match each practice and learn how we can follow those same practices in our everyday lives. For Children’s Church, we selected the curriculum called ShareFaith, which is a highly engaging program that teaches the Bible Stories. I am able to pick the order of these lessons and I hope to match them with either what they are learning in Sunday School or what Pastor Jim will be preaching on during the worship service. Each lesson has a cartoon video to show the story, Bible memory verses, activities, games, and graphic comics of the stories that are ebooks. Both programs will also easily be converted if we need to do remote learning or if families choose to keep their children home.

I am very excited for both of these programs and I’m hopeful that these new educational formats will make our children and youth more engaged in Christian Education. If you have any questions about these programs or if you would like to volunteer to help out, please don’t hesitate to call, email, or see me after worship service.

Thank you!
