The Book of the Every Other Month Club will begin its 33rd consecutive program year on Saturday, September 10, at 10 a.m. in the North Parlor. We hope you’ll join us for one or all of our discussions on these books:

September 10: Cloud Cuckoo Land by Anthony Doerr. The author of All the Light we Cannot See has written another beautiful book.

November 12: Jesus and John Wayne: How White Evangelicals Corrupted a Faith and Fractured a Nation by Kristin Kobes DuMez, Professor of History at Calvin University. “Paradigm-influencing…A very readable page-turner.” – Scot McKnight, Christianity Today

January 14: Buechner 101: Essays and Sermons by Frederick Buechner, with an introduction by Anne Lamott. Buechner, an ordained Presbyterian minister and a revered and prolific author, was a special favorite of the late Dr. William Steele, who introduced us to his work soon after founding BOEOMC in the late 80’s. We honor Buechner’s recent passing and celebrate his life by returning to his writing this year. This short anthology will serve as an introduction for those who may not
be familiar with Buechner, and as a return to his beautiful, uplifting words for those who are.

March 11: Starry Messenger: Cosmic Perspectives on Civilization by Neil deGrasse Tyson. This eagerly awaited new book is due to be published September 20th. Suggested by Pastor Jim Faile.

May 13: Horse by Geraldine Brooks. The latest novel by one of our favorite authors. “ A fascinating saga based on the true story of a famous 19th century racehorse…Brooks’ multiple narratives and strong character development captivate” – Publishers Weekly. ”Strong storytelling in service of a stinging moral message.” – Kirkus Reviews
