Hello everyone! Our Christian Education programs for children and youth are about to begin for the school year. Our programs have changed this school year for several reasons. The first reason is due to our lower number of children in our church family at the moment. The second is due to our changing world. We want to adapt with the world in order to serve our children and youth to the best of our abilities. Due to these reasons, we have decided to cancel our Sunday morning classes. We will still ensure that our children are being educated through Christ in our other programs that will be explained below.

For Children’s Church, we will continue to use ShareFaith, which many of you have participated in during some special sermons and Holy C.O.W. For those of you who may have missed it, this curriculum has turned Bible stories into cartoon videos, powerpoint presentations, games, and comic books. The kids are highly engaged throughout the lessons and we are able to go through the Bible chronologically. Children’s Church will continue to take place during the service every week except Communion Sundays. All children are welcome.

Youth Group will also look a little different this year. After speaking with some of our youth, we have decided to do Youth Group on the first and third Sundays of the month from 5-6:30, with some activities requiring a longer period of time. On the first Sunday of each month, we will meet up together to chat, catch up, and discuss whatever is on their minds. We will also plan for the next youth group. On the third Sunday of each month, we will have a bigger event where the youth will be encouraged to bring their friends to join in the fellowship. The leaders of the youth group will be Anne Witkowski and other monthly volunteers. If you are interested in helping during one of the months, please contact me.

Holy C.O.W. was a wonderful multi-generational event that took place 3 times this summer. We joined each other in fellowship and delicious carry-out and then participated in a lesson from the ShareFaith curriculum. It will be back by popular demand, but not until October potentially. We want to ensure that our children have a strong start to the school year in September.

The future of Christian Education may look different, but the importance of it is the same. If you would like to volunteer with any of the groups listed above, please let me know and we can have a discussion on how you can help!

Love in Christ,
